About Playa Conchas Chinas

Often called the 'Beverly Hills of Puerto Vallarta', Conchas Chinas features natural rock pools, dramatic villas in the cliffs, and crystalline snorkeling shallows.

Playa Conchas Chinas (Chinese Shells Beach) is one of the most photogenic coastal areas in Jalisco. Where the lush green foothills of the Sierra Madre tumble directly into the bay, natural granite rock formations divide the coast into a series of intimate turquoise coves. At low tide, natural tidal pools trap marine life, creating natural saltwater wading pools perfect for snorkeling and serene relaxation.

How to get there

Centrally located in Puerto Vallarta with direct pedestrian and road access.

  • Take any green city bus along Blvd. Francisco Medina Ascencio to Centro (10 MXN).
  • 5-10 min drive from anywhere in Central Puerto Vallarta.

Local planning notes

  • Explore at low tide to swim in the calm natural granite tide pools.
  • Bring a snorkel mask and water shoes to safely explore the rocky reefs and intertidal marine life.
  • Walk south along the coastal rock path to discover hidden pocket coves.

Before you go

  • Wear reef shoes or sturdy sandals; rocks and barnacles can be sharp.
  • High tide and strong winter swell can submerge the sandy pocket beaches.
